The Steinbeck Center

The National Steinbeck Center occupies a place of honor at the head of Main Street in Oldtown. Here you, are you engulfed in literature, history, agriculture and art. Steinbeck’s world is brought alive through multi-sensory exhibits, rare artifacts, film clip and special exhibitions. Peruse the Museum Store for something special to connect your experience to your memory.

The Farm

Load up the family and head to The Farm for agricultural tours, demonstrations, tractor rides and a petting zoo.

Tatum’s Garden

A few miles away, Tatum’s Garden is a fully inclusive and accessible playground with a broccoli tree house and celery slide that the kids will eat up.

Monterey Zoo

The Monterey Zoo trains wild, exotic and domestic birds and animals for film, TV, live productions and education. It also provides a loving sanctuary for adopted “stars” that would other be homeless. Tours are available daily at 1pm and are $20 for adults and $16 for children (14 and under).
