Every week we pick a newly submitted photo from the Flickr Group "See Monterey- Beautiful Photos of Monterey County." This week's winner is "Monarch Butterfly, Pacific Grove" submitted by Glenn Thomas Franco Simmons.

If you're fortunate enough to be in Pacific Grove during the fall or winter, you will be witness to one of nature's most incredible spectacles: the annual migration of the Monarch butterflies. Tens of thousands of Monarchs descend on Pacific Grove in October, and take up residence in the pines and eucalyptus trees of the Monarch Grove Butterfly Sanctuary.

Pacific Grove officially welcomes its fall residents with a Butterfly Parade on Saturday, October 4, 2014, beginning at 10:30am. The parade starts at the Robert H. Down School on Pine Avenue and will head down Fountain Avenue to Lighthouse Avenue, up 17th Street and concludes on Pine Avenue by returning to the school. A Butterfly Bazaar will follow after the parade.

Do you have an amazing shot of Monterey County that you think is worthy of "Flickr Photo of the Week?" Submit your photo to our Flickr Group and you just might get picked!
