Head to the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History and scope out their newest exhibit featuring artwork from the Science Illustration Program at CSUMB. 5pm-7pm. 165 Forest Avenue, Pacific Grove. Free admission.

Spend the evening with humor writer David Sedaris at the Sunset Center. David Sedaris is the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, and his most recent book, Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls, each of which became an immediate bestseller. 8pm. Round up the troops for the 6th Annual Warhorse Day! Today the Marina Equestrian Center is full of excitement featuring Cavalry horse jumping, Civil War horse-drawn cannon firing, blacksmithing, a petting zoo and plenty of activities for kids. There will also be an 11 mile Warhorse bike ride winding through the Fort Ord National Monument, CSUMB and Fort Ord Dunes State Park. The bike ride begins at 9am and the opening festival ceremony begins at 11am. Marina. Free admission.

Today the first ever "Home Brew Fest" is taking place as part of the Steinbeck Festival in Oldtown Salinas. Over 30 craft home brewers will be in three beer gardens pouring house specialties and vying for the People’s Choice Award. VIP ticket holders will be able to sample light bites from local restaurants and vendors.11am-4pm. 100 Block Main Street, Salinas. $35 for early bird and $50 at the gate for general admission and $50 for early bird and $75 at the gate for VIP.

Hope you’re thirsty! The 24th Annual Winemakers' Celebration returns to picturesque Carmel-by-the-Sea today celebrating the wines and winemakers of Monterey County’s world class growing region. Dolores Street (between Ocean & 7th) will be transformed into an atmosphere reminiscent of a European village street festival with over 100 incredible wines and light bites up for grabs. 12pm-5pm. Dolores Street, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $75 for general admission and $125 for VIP (early admittance).

Celebrate Derby Day with the Monterey Symphony today at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center. This annual fundraiser benefits the Monterey Symphony’s “Music for the Schools” Education and Engagement programs. Enjoy mint juleps while watching a live-cast of the Kentucky Derby’s 142nd “Run for the Roses” with friends, horse lovers, and fellow supporters of music education followed by a live Horse Show and dinner. 3pm-8pm. 3300 Portola Road, Pebble Beach. $150-$5,000.

Something big and bad is coming to the Golden State Theatre tonight! Big Bad Voodoo Daddy headlines with some of their popular swing inspired hits including "Go Daddy-O", "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)", and "Mr. Pinstripe Suit." 8pm. 417 Alvarado Street, Monterey. $27-$42.
