Dust off those cowboy boots and hat for the Monterey Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival rolling into the Monterey Conference Center this weekend. The festival provides guests with three days of the finest in cowboy arts where you'll hear everything from musical performances to storytelling and live poetry. Get in the Christmas spirit and check out a performance of The Nutcracker at the Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Lace up those sneakers and put on that Santa hat for the Jingle Bell Run in Pacific Grove this morning. Elves, reindeers and Santa's of all ages take off at Lovers Point Park for a 5K run benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. 8am, 17th Street and Ocean View Boulevard, Pacific Grove. $40 for participants and free for spectators.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Santa Claus! Mr. and Mrs. Claus take the long journey from the North Pole to Carmel Valley via helicopter. The duo arrives at the Carmel Valley Airfield where they will board their sleigh and lead a parade through Carmel Valley Village. Afterwards kids can head to the Carmel Valley Youth Center for a photo with jolly Old Saint Nick. 10:30am-2pm. Carmel Valley Village. Free admission.
