Big Sur acknowledges it's fought over fungi this weekend during the Big Sur Foragers Festival. The three day foodie celebration kicks off on Friday with a "Firestone and Fungus" dinner at the Big Sur Roadhouse. Saturday includes all sorts of activities like a hike through Pfeiffer State Park, a Fungus Face-Off with celebrity judges, and a Grand Celebrity Chef Dinner at Ventana Inn & Spa. On Sunday, Big Sur Roadhouse hosts a Foragers Brunch beginning at 9am. Friday-Sunday, Big Sur. Various ticket prices ranging from $35 to $240.

Need a good laugh? Head over to Planet Gemini this weekend as stand-up comedians Roger Lazaola and Rick Izquieta take the stage. Afterwards stay for karaoke and dancing. Friday and Saturday at 8pm. 2110 Fremont Street, Monterey. $10.
