All Weekend

Foodies unite in Carmel-by-the-Sea this weekend for the Relais & Châteaux GourmetFest. The four day food and wine extravaganza features an all star lineup of Relais & Châteaux Chefs and wine estates including its host restaurant Aubergine at L'Auberge Carmel. Events include an opening night welcome party, a cooking demo, wine tastings, off-site tours combined with exciting lunches, featured chefs, world-class wine dinners, a rarities dinner, and a closing seafood grill and Champagne tasting. Thursday-Sunday, various venues throughout Carmel-by-the-Sea. $160 and up.

The "funniest police officer" (according to Jay Leno) performs live at Planet Gemini this weekend. Mike Mancini's hilarious stand-up act will have you rolling your seat! Afterwards stay for dancing and karaoke. Friday and Saturday at 8pm. 2110 Fremont Street, Monterey. $10.

The incredible Smuin Ballet presents XXTREMES at the Sunset Center this Friday and Saturday. Don't miss their amazing footwork and choreography. Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 2pm. San Carlos Street and Ninth Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $55-$70.

Want to be entertained for free? The Next Generation Jazz Festival presented by Monterey Jazz Festival may just be the best kept secret in live entertainment. With three days of free live music at the Monterey Conference Center the event includes an opening night concert Friday at 8pm and then competitions all day Saturday and Sunday from amazingly talented young jazz musicians and students. Like photography? Head over to the Monterey Museum of Art La Mirada for an interactive panel discussion with several artists including Bob Kolbrener, John Sexton and Jerry Fielder. The evening will include lively conversations regarding the lives and works of extraordinary photographers from the past and present. 6:30pm-8pm, 720 Via Mirada, Monterey. Saturday

Come see what all of the buzz is about at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History! Today's Science Saturday focuses on bees, wasps, honey and hives. Curious kiddos will have the chance to create a beeswax candle, taste honey from various wildflowers and play games about pollination. 11am-3pm, 165 Forest Avenue, Pacific Grove. Free event.
