All Weekend

Things get jazzy on the Monterey Bay this weekend! Jazz Bash by the Bay brings 3-days full of all sorts of jazz genres to the Monterey Conference Center. Eight performance stages will be abuzz with traditional jazz, swing, gypsy jazz, ragtime, blues, zydeco and big band jams. March 7-9, 1 Portola Plaza, Monterey. Tickets range from $45 for a 1-day pass to $105 for an all access 3-day pass.

Comedian Tommy Savvitt is at Planet Gemini this Friday and Saturday for a hilarious stand-up act. He may look familiar from his appearances on WGN's "The Bob & Tom Show." Afterwards stay for dancing and karaoke. Friday and Saturday at 8pm. 2110 Fremont Street, Monterey. $10.

Hit the trails with guides from the State Parks system this AM! The Asilomar Ramble will take hikers through Asilomar State Park with interesting tidbits about the coastal refuge and its correlation with famous architect Julia Morgan. Friday

It's the first Friday of the month which can only mean one thing; it's time for the First Friday Art Walk in Oldtown Salinas. Several shops, galleries and restaurants stay open for an evening full of art exhibits, refreshments and live music for the whole family. 5pm-8pm, 100 Main Street, Salinas. Free event.

Experience an incredible evening of dance at the Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Performers from the Ailey II Dance Company heat up the stage with amazing choreography and spirited young talent. 8pm, San Carlos Street at Ninth Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $49-$69.

Saturday

Get ready, get set, for the Run or Dye 5K at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca! The most colorful 5K race is coming to the Monterey area where runners/walkers will get showered in eco-friendly dye at each kilometer. Afterwards there will be a Dye Festival full of life, fitness and fun. 9am, 1021 Monterey Salinas Highway, Salinas. $47.

The Museum of Monterey opens not one, not two, but three new art installations today. "Beyond the Ordinary, An Enduring Legacy of Light," "Sea Changes ACT" and "Etched in Monterey: Yesterday-Today" are officially unveiled today to the public. 2pm-8pm, 5 Custom House Plaza, Monterey. Free event.

Head down to Big Sur's Fernwood Tavern tonight for live music from The Suborbitals. 9pm, 47200 Highway One, Big Sur. Free event.

Sunday

Music legend Merle Haggard stops by the Sunset Center for a night of nostalgic classics like "Swinging Doors," "Sing Me Back Home," and "Hungry Eyes." 7pm, San Carlos Street at Ninth Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $79-$99.
