All Weekend

Starting Wednesday, October 10th contemporary art and film collide in Carmel-by-the-Sea for an epic five day event. The Carmel Art & Film Festival features art in almost every medium including music, fine art, photography and, of course, film. Events will be held at the Sunset Center and scattered throughout Carmel. Wednesday-Sunday. Carmel-by-the-Sea. Click here to view and purchase tickets online. Learn about Monterey’s heritage and unique culture during Monterey History Fest. The weekend will include historical walking tours, free admission to several adobes, a Civil War encampment the Lower Presidio Historic Park. On Saturday archaeologist Dr. Ruben Mendoza will give a tour of the interior of the Royal Presidio Chapel followed by a walking tour of archaeological sites around the church. On Sunday live one of the most important events in California's history as actors recreate the California Constitutional Convention at Hall. Saturday-Sunday, Monterey. Free event.

Want your kids to learn about fire safety in a fun environment? MY Museum and the Monterey Fire Department will teach your tots how to stop, drop and roll. 3:30pm-4:30pm, 425 Washington Street, Monterey. Free with admission. The Juncos bring a folk and Americana vibe to Pierce Ranch Vineyards this evening. Check out one of Monterey’s famed historical sites today! Ed Ricketts’ lab will be open for tours today. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to view “Doc’s” lab on Cannery Row made famous by local author John Steinbeck. Hourly tours from 9am to 5pm. Cannery Row, Monterey. $15. Celebrate Monterey County’s grape harvest by learning about various clones that are blended into Morgan Winery's Pinot Noirs. Today wine enthusiasts will sample four, 2010 vintage Pinot Noir clones and learn about the history, aromas and flavors that typify each clone's character. 1pm-5pm, 204 Crossroads Boulevard, Carmel. $20.

Sunday

Step into autumn with a hike though Garland Ranch. Today guides from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District take hikers through the Maple Canyon, Sage and Sky trails. Hikers will enjoy beautiful fall colors and sights. The 3.5 mile hike is expected to last 3-4 hours. Don’t forget to wear good hiking shoes and bring water and snacks. 9am, Garland Visitor Center, Carmel Valley. Free event. Meet celebrity photographer Tom O'Neal at the Steinbeck Center this evening. There will be a wine reception at 5pm followed by a conversation with the photographer beginning at 5:45pm. 5pm-7pm, One Main Street, Salinas. $10.
