On Wednesday, March 4, the Monterey County CVB in partnership with the Monterey County Hospitality Association (MCHA) and the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association (MCVGA) will be hosting training sessions on how to best engage the Tour Group and FIT (Foreign Independent Traveler). The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa on Del Monte Golf Course, and will kick off with a partner to partner networking event. Morning and afternoon sessions will feature two highly experienced tour and travel operators who will assist the MCCVB in preparing to host the National Tour Association’s (NTA) Spring Meet in Monterey from June 4-6, 2009. Tom Jaffa, President and CEO of The Jaffa Company and Jerry DiPietro, President of Tourco will each facilitate a session. One session will be on how to market to and host tour groups, while the other will address how to engage the FIT market.
At lunch, members will hear from Lee Carter, the Vice President of Meetings and Events for the NTA, who will talk about the Spring Meet event. After lunch, officials from the California Travel and Tourism Commission will speak on the importance of the tour and travel market and what the State of California is doing to engage this vital segment on our behalf. The MCVGA will be sponsoring a Wine Tasting from 3:00 to 4:30 pm immediately following the second session.
Registration fees are $45.00 per person and will include the following activities: Partner to Partner networking event, morning session, lunch, afternoon session and MCVGA Wine Tasting. There are also opportunities to market to fellow MCCVB members by reserving a table top before the morning session and after the afternoon session during the wine tasting. An additional $50 fee is charged to members who are interested in having a tabletop display at the event.
