Coastal Living Names Monterey as California's #1 Happiest Seaside Town 2015

The July/August issue of Coastal Living has the final results of the "America's Happiest Seaside Towns" contest and Monterey was featured as the number one town in California and the seventh overall in the United States.  The article lauds the cities top locations as Fisherman's Wharf, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row and notes the Monterey Jazz Festival as the city's big event of the year.

TripAdvisor Lists Pacific Grove on their Top 12 Vacation Destinations List

TripAdvisor looked at all 2014 vacation rental review scores across the U.S., and identified which smaller destinations had the highest ratings and most reviews. Pacific Grove has earned a 4.84 Avg TripAdvisor Vacation Rental Score which was good enough to earn top honors; you can check out the entire list here.

The Monterey Conference Center Announces $45 Million Renovation

The City of Monterey released the schedule and additional details regarding the renovation of the Monterey Conference Center. The release indicated the renovation will begin in late November of 2015 with the grand opening of the entire renovated facility in early 2017. The renovation will infuse up to $45 million in physical and technological improvements. The Conference Center will remain open during the renovation.

Google Brings 'Street View' to Monterey County

You can now explore Monterey's Old Fisherman's Wharf, hike Big Sur and spend some time on Carmel Beach without stepping away from your computer, thanks to a recent project from Google. The Mountain View company added 18 Monterey County trails and locales to Street View on Google Maps. The 360-degree panoramas offer a first-person view of places that aren't accessible by car. Four properties from Monterey County are included in Travel + Leisure's 500 World's Best Hotels for 2014. The properties that made the list included Post Ranch Inn, The Lodge at Pebble Beach, The Inn at Spanish Bay and L'Auberge Carmel!  The top 500 hotels were based on survey taken by Travel + Leisure's readership.
