Established in 1977, the Oldtown Salinas Association is a non-profit business organization that promotes and enhances Oldtown Salinas through revitalization programs, marketing, business recruitment, community events, and advocacy with local government.
OSA is over 400 businesses strong, and truly is “The Heart of the Valley.” OSA is led by a 16-member Board of Directors, and staffed by a professional, full-time Executive Director.
As a business improvement district, OSA’s business-owner membership is assessed annually in order to promote and support the improvement of Oldtown Salinas. OSA’s annual Program of Work is developed by the Board of Directors, and implemented by committees and staff. The 2005-06 Program of Work focuses on business advocacy, marketing, landscape improvements and ensuring the safety and security of the Oldtown district.
An important fact about the Oldtown Salinas Association is that with the exception of staff, the organization is entirely voluntary. The businesses determine the ultimate direction of OSA. The Board of Directors hires an Executive Director to carry out the directive of the committees, oversee the budget, and to maintain relationships with City entities, other community organizations, the media and members.
