Perched along a terraced hillside in sunny Carmel Valley, Bernardus Lodge is bordered by vineyards and the Santa Lucia Mountains. Bernardus Lodge exudes an old-world charm derived from such ambiance-enhancing accents as stone fireplaces, rich wood, ceramic tiles, vaulted beamed ceilings, overstuffed sofas and chairs and antique wardrobe armoires.
The resort boasts 57 sumptuous guestrooms range in size from 525 to 1,875 square feet. Each room has a fireplace and French doors that open onto spacious patios or balconies with views of the picturesque vineyards and mountains. Additionally, the recreational facilities capitalize on Carmel Valley's year-round warm, sunny weather. The resort has two tennis courts, a croquet lawn, bocce court, and an outdoor, heated lap-length swimming pool.
Highlights
Marinus at Bernardus Lodge features California Natural Cuisine, created by celebrated chef Cal Stamenov, featuring local, organic, seasonal produce as well as regional seafood and artisan farmed meats. In 2001, Marinus received Wine Spectator magazine's highly coveted "Grand Award" for its wine cellar in, an honor granted every three years. The cellar houses 1,850 different labels of wines and a total of more than 28,000 premium bottles, including 10,000 bottles from the acclaimed Bernardus Winery & Vineyard. It is open daily for dinner from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. (Jackets are not required.)
Wickets Bistro is a cozy venue, perfect for a casual meal or beverage. Guests can dine indoors or outdoors under an expansive trellis overlooking the resort's croquet lawn. Or guests can enjoy a drink at the bar, which features live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. Wickets Bistro is open daily for breakfast (7 a.m.-11 a.m.), lunch (11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) and dinner (6 p.m.-10 p.m.). A full bar features live jazz on selected evenings.
The Spa at Bernardus Lodge is a 5,300-square-foot, full-service facility with seven treatment rooms. These include a room specially designed for couples and a "warming room," where guests can enjoy herbal tea while waiting for their treatments. There are men's and women's locker rooms and steam and sauna facilities. The Spa also has an exercise room; a meditation garden; an open-air warming pool; and a full-service beauty salon. An assortment of treatments incorporating indigenous herbs and flowers, are given by a staff of certified therapists and licensed aestheticians. The spa and salon are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The fitness room is open 24 hours.

There are plenty of original wedding reception ideas to create a simple affordable wedding reception. It’s all about the choices you make. From the location to the service style and type of food to the dresses and party favors, there’s wonderful choices you can make that are simple and affordable. One way to save on the reception is considering getting married in the off season or on a day other than Saturday. What about a Sunday Brunch Wedding Reception? Classic Catering has a lovely Victorian Venue in Pacific Grove just up the street from the famous Lover’s Point, where many beach ceremonies are held, that offers special rates for a Sunday Brunch Wedding Reception. Or, how about planning an Afternoon Wedding Reception on a Thursday or Friday? These receptions are just as wonderful, but not as pricey as a Saturday evening would be.

Owner Dana Carnazzo came from a background of food and travel to found Grapes of Wrath, California Style Catering. She cooked on yachts in the Caribbean and South Pacific, upscale fishing lodges in remote Alaska and ships from Mexico to Southern Alaska. She returned to Monterey where she worked as catering manager for a prominent local company for five years before establishing Grapes of Wrath in 1992. Her love of good food, a great party and exceptional service has allowed Grapes of Wrath to continuously evolve into an award winning corporation. |

We custom design each event and thus find it very difficult to give prices off hand. If you have a budget in mind it would be good to speak with Wendy directly to see what she would produce within that range.
We do not participate in any competition for pricing; Wendy creates the best for whatever you plan to spend. Please keep in mind that good taste costs no more.
To give a relative price idea, we are around the same prices for buffet/hors d’oeuvre functions as Pebble Beach, Bernardus and Highlands Inn-Park Hyatt.

Chef Wendy Brodie's Culinary Secrets Revealed In Intimate Carmel Highlands Setting.
Choose from one of several intimately designed cooking demonstrations in Chef Wendy's own private exhibition kitchen. Unique lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on participation make this a truly memorable and inviting opportunity. Of these exciting classes, certain ones finish with an intimate lunch with the Chef. Participants indulge in culinary creations, socialize in a warm museum-like setting, and take in breath-taking vistas. Classes can be custom designed to best fit your program and schedules. Gather old friends for a private class or make new ones in an on-going instructional series from novice to pro where you'll learn: Professional Cooking Techniques, Fabulous Food Presentation, Tricks to Successful Menu Planning, and Spectacular Table and Centerpiece Design.

Thank you very much for your interest in our cooking classes with Wendy Brodie. Art of Food with Wendy Brodie© is now a National PBS Television broadcast show.
The class structure is as follows: the greeting is about 1⁄2 hour, the actual demo/teaching is about 1 1⁄2 - 2 hours and then lunch for another hour or so. Thus the whole event is about 3 1⁄2 - 4 hours, day or evening and weekdays or weekends.
You will need to put together your own group.
There is a minimum charge of 6 people for a class and up to 20 if desired. We meet at Zenwood, our home with a demonstration kitchen, in the Carmel Highlands, usually around 10:30 AM (however this can be adjusted). There is about 1⁄2 hour of meet-and-greet with mimosa, champagne, wine or coffee then into the kitchen. The hands-on and demonstration lasts about 1 1⁄2 to 2 hours and can be structured around your interests. Then it’s on to the luncheon table for the three courses you just created. The cost is $125 (or $150.00 for evening event)** per person plus wine on consumption and there is a 20% gratuity added for the labor required.
It is best for you to speak personally with Wendy to determine your interests and level of instruction; she teaches skills from novice to professional. The balance of the charges is due at the time of the class. If the booking is less than 21 days prior to the scheduled class, the deposit is due in full upon booking.
