The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, which runs 18 miles between Pacific Grove and Castroville, is just blocks away and lined with cafes, shops and bicycle and kayak rental outlets. After a full day in Monterey, visitors can also extend their adventure by exploring the wineries of sun-drenched Carmel Valley, the coastal cliffs and state parks of Big Sur and the art galleries and white sand beaches in Carmel-by-the-Sea, all located within minutes of the hostel.
