Pebble Beach Company was founded by Samuel Finley Brown Morse, who was a distant cousin of telegraph-inventor Samuel Finley Breese Morse. In the early 1900s, Morse was a manager for the Pacific Improvement Company; the company had extensive real estate holdings on the Monterey Peninsula.

In 1919, Morse formed the Del Monte Properties Company and acquired those holdings, which included Del Monte Forest and the popular Hotel Del Monte (now the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey). February 22, 1919, saw the grand opening of Pebble Beach Golf Links and The Lodge at Pebble Beach , which had replaced a log-cabin lodge originally located on 17-Mile Drive.

Morse died on May 10, 1969, ten years after ensuring that easements would preserve hundreds of acres of forest and coastline along the 17-Mile Drive for generations to come, and 50 years after establishing a veritable monument to the power of nature and beauty.

Recommended for experienced kayakers & those who know Monterey Bay.  We recommend novices and those inexperienced on Monterey Bay take the guided kayak your for their first trip out. You may see sea lions, sea otters and harbor seals on your journey, but please be cautious in not getting too close.  It's not good for the marine mammals to ever be closer than 50'  - and it is illegal.  The Federal Marine Mammals Protection Act makes its illegal to get too close.  Guides are familiar with the proper distance to maintain. Patt O'Brien, an ordained minister, and has been offering wedding services on the Monterey Bay since 1988. We are authorized by Monterey County to issue the California Confidential Marriage License for eligible weddings performed in the county of Monterey, and are further authorized to perform marriage ceremonies in the state of California. There is no blood test or waiting period required if we issue your marriage certificate, however both the bride and groom must be over 18 years old and already living together to qualify for the Confidential Marriage Licnese. We have two ordained ministers that are available to perform your wedding ceremony. Ceremony locations can be chosen from numerous outdoor settings, or our very own Monterey Stone Marriage Chapel. Additional services available through us include wedding photography and videography. If you would like us to issue your marriage license or perform your wedding ceremony, please contact us at our office and we will be happy to make arrangements to handle your wedding. We are often available for weddings on short notice, however the sooner you reserve your spot the more flexible we can be in regards to ceremony times and locations. Fees and Cost The Monterey Stone Marriage Chapel Chapel Rental Fees are as follows (Minister fees are included ) 0-2 guests $250. 3-10 guests $300. 11-50 guests $400. Overtime Fees of $50. will be charged for weddings starting 30. min. late. Please keep in mind that ministers are not always able to wait due to other wedddings booked. Offsite Ceremonies $275. For this price we will send a minister to the location of your choice such as an ocean site, hotel, or private home. ( please note that we only travel in the Monterey County area) Marriage License Fee $80. Must be paid prior to wedding via mail or other arrangements. This fee is passed to The Monterey County Recorder ( you must be over 18 yr. and living together in order for us to issue your marriage license.) Photography $120. for 36 exposures Our photographer will take a roll of 36 photos and hand the roll of film back to you after the ceremony. Unfortunately, due to his low cost, he does not travel to receptions or a second location. Please be sure to reserve his services ahead of time through A By The Sea Wedding 831-375-8574. Video $120. Our videographer will capture a lasting memory of your wedding ceremony. After ceremony you will leave with finished video. He is booked by apt. by calling A By The Sea Wedding. Rehearsals $75. Rehearsals are reccommended for groups of 40 or more Ceremony Coordinator $75. For this fee we can offer a coordinator that will help organize during ceremony by instructing bridal party and taking charge of music.
