Salinas First Fridays Art Walk
First Friday of every month, 5-8pm
On the first Friday of every month, from 5-8pm, the artistic pulse of Monterey County is located in Salinas. Around 50 galleries, shops, restaurants and other organizations in a three-block area throw open their doors to visitors for the Salinas First Fridays Art Walk. Each locale hosts a different experience; this Salinas event is full of things to do. Behind shop and gallery doors, you may find an exhibition of photos or paintings, a book reading, a live band, a dance performance, activities for children, music lessons, or something else entirely!
For over three years, Oldtown Salinas and Artistas Unidos have been bringing this great community occasion to Monterey County. The Salinas First Fridays Art Walk has become a local favorite for people looking for things to do in Salinas; hundreds of people fill the street to check out each month's offerings. Refreshments at stops along the way help visitors "power up" as they check out the great entertainment at hand. Every month brings something different; recent offerings have included walking tours around Oldtown Salinas that tell the story of an aspect of the town's history, public art or architecture.
Looking for things to do in Salinas on a Friday night? Just head to the 100-300 blocks of Main Street, and look for the balloons on Main and surrounding blocks. Each balloon denotes a participating venue. You never know what you'll discover! If you prefer to plan ahead, the official venue map at the Artistas Unidos website will tell you what is going on where, so you can ensure you catch your don't-miss happenings.
In keeping with its family-friendly nature, First Fridays is a tobacco-free event.
