The world’s top ocean-themed film festival, the BLUE Ocean Film Festival, comes to Monterey from August 24-29. The conservation-focused film festival features over 60 award-winning ocean films, a tribute to Jacques Yves Cousteau, filmmaker discussions, ocean photography exhibits, film and photography workshops, conservation seminars, VIP parties, family activities and more!
Watch, Learn and Interact
BLUE’s core are the amazing ocean films and ocean-themed photography on display throughout the event. Award-winning ocean films will be shown at venues throughout Monterey, including the Cannery Row IMAX. Photographic exhibits will be on display throughout the city, as well, including a special exhibition of photographs by National Geographic photographer David Doubilet at the Portola Hotel and Spa.
The BLUE Ocean Film Festival doesn’t stop when the movie ends. Attendees can attend discussions with filmmakers, getting insider information on how the films were made. Presentations from some of the world’s leading minds in marine conservation will provide insight into the challenges facing our oceans. Children can learn about the world beneath the waves with educational hands-on exhibits and family activities. Attendees can interact with other members of the audience as well as filmmakers and photographers at special VIP parties and other events.
