Monterey County Literary & Film Map

The Monterey County Film & Literary Map carves out fictional and authentic trails through Monterey County, highlighting over 100 points of interest found in books, movies and real life. (The map corresponds to numbered locations on the interest lists).

Robert Louis Stevenson, John Steinbeck and Henry Miller are only a few world-renowned authors who were inspired by Monterey County and who are featured on the map's list of literary locations. Surprising film locations are also sprinkled throughout the map. Classics like “Captains Courageous,” “Play Misty for Me,” and “National Velvet” are listed with set locations for “Bandits,” and “We Were Soldiers.” Don’t miss the Hot Stops, rounding out the adventure with tips on wine tasting, book hunting and great meals. The map corresponds to numbered literary and film locations, and area hot spots.
