Robert Louis Stevenson, John Steinbeck and Henry Miller are only a few world-renowned authors who were inspired by Monterey County and who are featured on the map's list of literary locations. Surprising film locations are also sprinkled throughout the map. Classics like Captains Courageous, Play Misty for Me and National Velvet are listed with set locations for Bandits and We Were Soldiers.
