The California Cattlewomen’s Association welcome other cattlewomen from Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah to Monterey County! All who attend this meeting will definitely learn something new about themselves in addition to California Agriculture. Highlights of the meeting include:
Bengard Ranch- Salinas, CA - It was in 1855, that the first Bengard traveled across the Great Plains to California, in a covered wagon, searching for rich farming and grazing land. Today, the Bengard Ranch is one of the largest grower shippers in the Western United States, farming in California and Arizona with extensive operations in Mexico and Florida. They pack and ship with their own label!
Hahn Winery- Soledad, CA - It was in the 1980’s that Hahn released their first wine from Saint Lucia Highlands. It was eight years later, in 1991, that Nicky Hahn led the change to establish SLH as an American Viticulture Area. At this tour stop, the group will learn about the history of the property and the family. The production tour will include how wine is made, cellared, bottled and we will walk through the tank room and barrel room. At the completion of the tour, all will enjoy an educational tasting which includes five of their flagship wines and cheese plates.
Garlinger Cattle Ranch- Salinas, CA - Garlinger Cattle Ranch was established in 1880 by Del Garlinger’s grandfather, Hans Hansen, and is still in operation as a fourth generation cattle ranch today. The family also grows and leases farmland for crops including lettuce, broccoli, strawberries, peas, bok choy and more.
