On your next visit to Carmel, meander off of Ocean Avenue and venture to The Barnyard Shopping Village and The Crossroads Carmel. Just across Highway 1 lays both of these outdoor shopping villages which don an array of boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants, wine tasting rooms and beautiful outdoor gardens. The best part of all… they are just minutes apart, perfect for a full day of perusing!
1. Easy Access
Both The Barnyard and The Crossroads Carmel are located directly off of Highway 1 in Carmel, just south of the Ocean Avenue exit. If you’re coming from Monterey the drive should take you approximately 10-15 minutes and 5-10 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea. If you can, plan your travel so you are not on the road during peak hours, 7:30am-9:30am and 4:30pm-6:30pm. Also, please be aware of detours and delays due to recent construction on Highway 1 near the Rio Road exit.
The shopping centers are only a ½ mile apart, making for a short drive or a quick stroll from one to the other.
2. Plenty of Parking
No need to circle around for parking at either The Crossroads or The Barnyard. Each shopping village has ample (and FREE!) parking with easy access to and from your favorite stores and restaurants.
3. One-of-a-Kind Boutique Shops & Services
Come looking for unique and boutique pieces as you won’t find any chain shopping stores at either of these entities. Both outdoor villages host an array of charming businesses offering specialty jewelry, fashionwear, fine art and health and beauty services. At The Barnyard, you will find the Jewel Boutique, Carmel Visual Arts, Mary’s Boutique and the Bellagio Hair Salon. The Crossroads is home to European Jewelers, Burst & Bloom, Consignment by the Sea and Heidi’s Studio.
4. Local Tastes & Sips
Both locations combined offer dozens of choices when it comes to refueling. At The Barnyard, you will find local favorites like the Lugano Swiss Bistro serving delicious fondue and European cuisine and Allegro Pizzeria dishing out gourmet pizzas in a causal setting.
Just across the street at The Crossroads, you will find fresh seafood at the Carmel Poke Co. and southwestern comfort foods at Rio Grill. Be sure to wind down with a taste (or two) of Monterey County wines at McIntyre Vineyards or Taste Morgan.
