The quaint beach town of Carmel-by-the-Sea hosts a variety of unique events for Fall, which is also known to locals as its “secret season.” As the crowds die down with summer's end, the 75 degree temperatures remain and the fog lifts allowing visitors to truly enjoy the Village of Carmel’s fall offerings.

1. 58th Annual Sandcastle Contest

The Sandcastle Contest takes place on the famous white sands of Carmel Beach. This lively event is praised by locals for bringing the community together to ogle over innovative and unique sand creations.

Experience local food and wine, live music and dancing as the sun sets over Carmel. This year’s “Wild Wild Fest” theme combines with Carmel-by-the-Sea’s existing culture and traditions for a one night only memorable event.

4. Poodle Day

Saturday, Oct. 6

Carmel-by-the-Sea hosts this annual event for all dog lovers. The day consists of a parade, welcoming all poodle or poodle mixes to participate, followed by afternoon beach play, and ending with an evening cocktail party at Cypress Inn. 5. Meet the Makers

A brand new event this year, visitors can take a self-guided walking tour of artist-owned galleries sprinkled throughout the village, rub elbows with 16 local artists and simultaneously enjoy wine from five of the finest local winemakers.
