It was no foolin' on April 1 when Golf Digest released its Top 100 list - five Monterey County golf courses are on it! Cypress Point at Pebble Beach is number 4 on the list, the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links ranks number 6, Spyglass Hill came in at number 51, Monterey Peninsula Country Club climbed to number 72, and the Preserve in Carmel is number 78. Congratulations to all! Looking to keep your kids busy during spring break? The Salinas Californian has coverage on activities for kids throughout Monterey County. If you want to bring your children to Elkhorn Slough, Suite 101 has an excellent article on kid-friendly Elkhorn Slough trips. Do you prefer traveling with a canine companion? In fact, they're painted lady butterflies, tiny lookalikes that have suddenly flocked to the area. Maybe the monarchs clued them in! It's the best season for wildflowers in years, local natural history and parks experts say. You might want to register now for the free East Garzas Trail Wildflower Hike this Saturday, run by the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District - it's sure to be spectacular. As we noted before, the Secret Lives of Seahorses exhibit opens today at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the Salinas Californian reports the exhibit got rave reviews in previews. The Henry Miller Library in Big Sur is undergoing an even larger transformation than previously announced, including renovating one room to serve as a gallery for posters from the Library's eclectic history.
