Throughout October, many farms offer pick-your-own pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hayrides and other activities. Enjoy food, games and lots of fun surprises at these fall farm festivities. Here's just a sampling of what the region has to offer.
Earthbound Farms in Carmel Valley is a harvest haven throughout October. Kids and adults alike can pick out their favorite pumpkin or just enjoy the warmth of Carmel Valley. There are also several fall themed events taking place including Fall Fun Days on October 19th and 26th.
Borchard Farms in Salinas offers its Endless Maze and Ghost Town. Traverse the giant corn maze and visit the Ghost Town and Haunted Barn. Marvel at gigantic gourds during the farm's Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off on October 19th. There are also bounce houses and lots of cute farm animals.
Lots of fun and spooky events take place during October, and not just at haunted farms! Be sure to visit some of these fun attractions.
On Saturday nights during the month, take a Ghost Tour of Old Monterey. This 90-minute tour visits haunted buildings, the oldest church in California and a historic Monterey cemetery. No children under age 5 are allowed. Feel free to bring cameras and try to capture the image of a ghost!
Kids get tricked out on October 26th for Pacific Grove's 2nd Annual Trick-or-Treating event. Trick-or-treaters will receive complimentary candy and goodies at participating downtown PG businesses. Once kids get their sugar fix they can head over to the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History for Science Saturday where spiders and snakes are the stars of the show.
Animal lovers won't want to miss the 6th Annual Howl-o-ween Celebration at Salinas Animal Services on October 26th. See adorable animals participate in a pet costume contest. Children will enjoy lots of activities, including face painting and a cake walk.
Carmel-by-the-Sea's Halloween Parade will be marching down Ocean Avenue on October 26th. This is the perfect event for children (and pets) to show off their Halloween costumes! Enjoy refreshments and entertainment at the Sunset Center following the parade in honor of Carmel's 97th Birthday Celebration.
The Del Monte Shopping Center has saved their event for actual Halloween day, October 31st. Pumpkin Pandemonium brings out all sorts of ghouls and goblins for free pumpkins and treats.
