Not one, not two but three beverage festivals takeover Monterey County this weekend! Have your choice of an amazing selection of wine, beer, cocktails or all of the above.
The party kicks off with the Monterey Wine Festival Friday evening at the Custom House Plaza. Guests will be wined and dined during "A Night to Celebrate to Reds." Food and wine enthusiasts will mingle with the wine experts and chefs themselves while trying out new wine releases and tasty fare! The event is 6pm to 9pm and is $50 for general admission. VIP tickets are also available for $75 and includes one extra hour of wine tasting.
The Monterey Wine Festival continues Saturday at 11am at Custom House Plaza where guests can sip their way through reds and whites for just $35. At noon it's time for the West Coast Chowder Competition where attendees can sample the best of the best in clam chowder. Local chefs will compete for the coveted Copper Pot Award and cash prizes. At 2pm spectators are in for a treat during the "Bartenders Fedora Cocktail Throw Down." The best bartenders around will be mixing up the cocktails for a chance to win cash prizes. Don't worry; you will have a chance to sample these spirits too!
Head for the hills for even more wine at the Carmel Valley's Art & Wine Celebration. The quaint village in Carmel Valley hosts an event centered around their beautiful vineyards and its tasty bounty. Guests can sample wine from over ten local wineries while jamming to nine different bands. There are even children's activities like bounce houses, crafts and pony rides. The event is 11am to 5pm. Tickets to wine taste are $20 in advance but general admission is free.
Not really into wine? Don't worry; the Monterey Beer Festival is here for you! Over 80 different breweries from around the world are on deck at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Sample ales, lagers and ciders to your heart's content. These savory suds are perfectly paired with epic classic rock jams from three different cover bands! The Beer Festival is 12:30pm to 5pm and tickets are just $40. VIP tickets are also available for $60 and include one extra hour of beer tasting and snacks.
