Monterey Regional Waste Management

By composting, the Waste Management district keeps organics (landscape trimmings, food scraps) out of landfills and preserves our top soils. The benefits of compost include building healthy soil, conserving water, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and saving money. Monterey Regional Waste Management Districts also offers free compost workshops and events throughout the year so you can learn the benefits and basics of home composting and green gardening. For more info visit

InterContinental the Clement Monterey

A composting program is in place for all food waste from the restaurant, employee dining room and banquet departments. The Monterey Regional Waste Management District has noted InterContinental The Clement Monterey for being the local frontrunner in these initiatives.

CSU Monterey Bay

Compost bins are located throughout the CSU Monterey Bay campus. CSUMB recently received a multi-family recycling grant from CalRecycle, and continues to decrease their waste by composting when possible.
