If you care to sleep in a bit longer, join the 1:30pm tour of the Asilomar Dunes. Here you will learn about the preservation and management of this natural habitat, visit the native plant greenhouse and enjoy scenic views. Prepare to be inspired during a performance of Evita at The Western Stage. Join this ordinary woman's meteoric rise to power as narrator, Ché Guevara, reflects the voice of the Argentine people who came to see Evita as the spiritual leader of their nation. Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 8pm. 411 Central Avenue, Salinas. $26.

Peruse through fine jewelry, crystals, gems, beads, gold & silver, minerals and more at manufacturer’s prices during the Monterey Gem Faire at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center. Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm. 2004 Fairgrounds Road, Monterey. Free admission with a donated food item.

Kick off the start of the holiday season with a special tree lighting at Cannery Row! The free event kicks off at 4pm in Steinbeck Plaza (corner of Cannery Row and Prescott Avenue). Snap some selfies with Santa, sing along with classic holiday carolers and enjoy an array of family-friendly festivities before the lighting of the tree at 6pm. 4pm-6pm. Cannery Row, Monterey. Kick off your holidays at the annual Salinas Holiday Parade of which includes entrants ranging from marching bands, floats and dancers to walking groups and classic cars. The route winds up South Main Street and through Oldtown to the National Steinbeck Center. 1 Main Street, Salinas. 6pm-8pm. Salinas. Free event.
