Get out that kilt and enjoy the fascinating culture and foods hailing from Scotland and Ireland. The Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival transforms the Monterey County Fair & Event Center into a Celtic paradise complete with bag pipes, dancing, athletic events, sheep dog demonstrations and more. Saturday and Sunday from 9am-6pm. 2004 Fairgrounds Road, Monterey. $15 for one day and $20 for two days.

Friday

Spend your Friday evenings at Carmel Plaza and enjoy fantastic live music, premier local wine and beer as well as samplings of savory appetizers from local restaurants. Today's Summer Live Music series features music from the Joy Bonner Band, wine tastings from Wrath Winery and bites from Aabha Indian Cuisine. 5pm-7pm. Ocean Avenue and Mission Street, Monterey. Saturday

Head to sunny Carmel Valley for an array of events at Earthbound Farms including a Flower Walk, Bug Walk, Bee Experience and Morning Yoga. Various times and prices. 7250 Carmel Valley Road, Carmel.

Find your inner balance in the redwoods with a guided meditation from the Monterey Bay Meditation Studio. The group will meet at the Carmel Mission. 11am-12:30pm. Mission Trail Park, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Free event.

Uncork your creativity and Paint with Dali17. Paint, canvas and brushes are provided as an experienced local artist leads you through the process of unleashing your inner Salvador Dali. 4pm. 5 Custom House Plaza, Monterey. $35.

Sunday

Discover and identify some of the animals and plants that call Asilomar State Beach’s tide pools "home" during a free educational event from California State Parks. 11am-3pm. Meet CA State Parks Staff at the tide pools located at the North end of Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove. Free event. 

 The Haute Enchilada in Moss Landing hosts a special book signing from author Alfred Kildow. 1pm-3pm. 7902 Moss Landing Road, Moss Landing. Free event.
