Celebrate the holidays amidst the scenic coastline Ice Skating by the Bay seasonal ice skating rink located in Custom House Plaza behind Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey. Skaters can spend the day in a winter wonderland by the bay.
Christmas on the Wharf in Monterey will feature holiday musical entertainment including choirs and community caroling, a dazzling array of beautiful holiday lights and decorations, a 23 food Christmas tree, silhouetted lit trees, tin soldiers, sweet treats, free Santa “meet and greet” visits, photo ops with Santa, lovely holiday princesses and much more. There will be free hot chocolate, coffee, hot apple cider and cookies as well as prize drawings, Christmas carolers, plus all of the activities and experiences the Wharf has to offer.
The Monterey Peninsula Ballet Theater (MPBT) is thrilled to announce its return to Sunset Center Carmel with the 2019 production of The Nutcracker. This enchanting story springs to life in keeping with the tradition of Tchaikovsky’s original ballet, first performed in San Francisco 74 years ago. Carmel-by-the-Sea lights up with night with a special tree lighting ceremony at Devendorf Park. The tree lighting ceremony begins at 2pm in Devendorf Park with plenty of entertainment, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus! After the tree is lit, stop by Carmel Plaza for their annual open house with live entertainment and refreshments.

There will also be Pet Adoptions, Pictures with Santa Claus, Kris Kringle’s Kids Korner and Holiday movie “Elf”.
Learn about Pirates and Rogues at the Monterey Public Library. The age of pirates spanned nearly 200 years and was considered a plague on the high seas. Even what was then Alta California wasn't safe, and a surprising number of unexpected visitors sailed into Monterey Bay. Meet author Todd Cook whose new book recounts the stories of Hippolyte Bouchard and other. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, and pirate era artifacts will be on display. Stillwell’s Fun in the Park. Caledonia Park in downtown Pacific Grove behind the Post Office will be the site of a huge holiday party. Lots of wintry fun for all! Featuring Santa’s arrival on a shiny Pacific Grove fire truck, Frosty the Snowman, Snow Queen, hayrides, petting zoo & lots of entertainment. The hours are from 10:00am- 4:00pm.
Winter Artisan Marketplace at the Lab in Carmel – 2 days. On December 7 and 8, the Lab in Carmel presents its annual holiday artisan marketplace featuring vendors from across the peninsula, from 10 am to 5 pm. Brighten the Harbor Boat Parade! Watch decked out boats cruise along Monterey Bay's scenic coastline during the Monterey Yacht Club's lighted boat parade. The boats will start at Old Fisherman's Wharf and turn around at Hopkins Point, just after the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Location: Monterey Bay Coastline. Time: 5pm and admission is free!
