All Weekend

California’s oldest music festival, the Carmel Bach Festival, celebrates its 80-year history with 15 days of performances, talks and educational events at the Sunset Center and throughout Carmel-by-the-Sea. Bring the family out to a performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at Golden Bough Theater in Carmel-by-the-Sea. This Tony Award winning play takes you inside the mind of 15-year-old Christopher Boone as he sets out to solve the mysterious death of a neighbor’s dog. Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm. Monte Verde between 8th and 9th, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $8-$38.

Friday

Musician and vocalist Jarrod Dickenson stops by Folktale Winery to kick off the weekend with live folk jams. 4:30pm-7:30pm. 8940 Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel. Free event.

Soak in some tunes, do a little shopping and enjoy local food and wine during Carmel Plaza’s Summer Live Music Series. Today the Extra Large Band performs with bites provided by 400 Degrees Gourmet Burgers and sips from Wrath Wines. 5pm-7pm. Ocean Avenue and Mission Street, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Free event. 

Test your knowledge on sports, wine, pop culture and more during Friday Night Trivia at Joullian Vineyards. Teams will play 4 rounds of 10 questions per category in order to compete for a winning prize. 5:30pm-7:30pm. 2 Village Drive, Carmel Valley. $1 entry fee. 

Congrats, you’ve made it to the end of the work week! Unwind with a cocktail and live music at Phoebe’s Café at the Asilomar Conference Grounds. Tonight’s performer is classic rock and country performer Ace de la Vergne. 6:30pm-9pm. 800 Asilomar Avenue, Pacific Grove. Free event. 

Tonight mega superstar Blake Shelton kicks off the California Rodeo Salinas at the Salinas Sports Complex with hits like “Honeybee” and “Sangria.” 7pm. 1034 North Main St, Salinas. SOLD OUT!

Saturday

It’s the second Saturday of the month which means it’s time for the Carmel Art Walk! Visit artist owned galleries and studios and meet the local artists who carry on the Carmel art colony legacy. Click here for a map of participating venues. 5pm-8pm. Downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. Free event. 

Carmel Art Walk

Enjoy a night at the Dali17 Museum with culture and arts from Afghanistan! This cocktail event and fundraiser will provide information on SAHAR, a nonprofit that builds schools in Afghanistan. 5pm. 5 Custom House Plaza, Monterey. $100.

The California Rodeo Salinas is gearing up with not one, but two parades! The Kiddie Kapers Parade kicks things off at 6:30pm where tiny tots compete for the top cowboy and cowgirl. At 8pm, the Colmo del Rodeo Parade marches down Oldtown Salinas featuring a wide range of floats, specialized cars and animals! 6:30pm and 8pm. Main Street, Salinas. Free event.  

Grab a glass of wine at Sovino Wine Bar in downtown Monterey and listen to live music from Out of the Blue. The guitarist and vocalist duo play an eclectic mix bringing a fresh sound to covers by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Steely Dan and Led Zeppelin. 8pm-10pm. 241 Alvarado Street, Monterey. Sunday

Head for the hills and bring your family and friends out to scenic Salinas Valley for Hahn’s Summer Music Series. Pick a spot on their sunny patio and simply soak in the live music, wine, view and good company.
