The Monterey Jazz Festival takes over the Monterey County Fair & Event Center for three days of jazz, blues and folk from headliners like Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Leslie Odom Jr., Common and many more! Don your favorite lederhosen and dust off that beer stein for the 7th Annual Oktoberfest Monterey Bay. The Barnyard in Carmel turns into a mini-Munich with dancing, keg races, a Miss Oktoberfest pageant, German cuisine, and beer! Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-6pm.  3652 The Barnyard, Carmel. $15-$20.

Bring out the kids for a stunning live performance of Peter Pan at the magical PacRep Outdoor Forest Theatre in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Thursday-Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm. Santa Rita & Mountain View, Carmel. $8-$36.

Saturday

Carmel Beach is alive with all sorts of castles and creatures today for The Great Sand Castle Contest. Everyone is invited to create their own work of art and peruse some of the sandy talents! 8am. Scenic and 10th, Carmel-by-the-Sea. Free event.

Carefully craft your moves and learn new choreography during a Carmel Delights dancing workshop at Move Studios. 12:30pm-2:30pm. 600 E Franklin Street, Monterey. $25.

Join the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the Honorable Leon Panetta for his pivotal role in its establishment. Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner featuring local sustainable ingredients among the Monterey Bay Aquarium's world-class exhibits. 6pm. 886 Cannery Row, Monterey. $175.
 

Sunday

The City of King celebrates El Grito "The Shout" with traditional and cultural Mexican entertainment and customs. A parade will make way through the heart of King City to a fiesta at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds with food, vendors and entertainment. 11am-5pm. 625 Division Street, King City. Free event.

Head to St. Mary’s Church in Pacific Grove as they kick off their Fall Celtic concert series with Irish accordionist Johnny B. Connolly and guitarist Eamon McElholm. 3pm-5pm. 146 12th St, Pacific Grove. $20 in advance and $22 at the door.
