This Friday and Saturday the Sunset Center in Carmel-by-the-Sea hosts the Smuin Ballet. Their winter program Oh, Inverted World features music from popular indie-rock band The Shins. Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 2pm. San Carlos Street and Ninth Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea. $55-$68.


Enjoy an evening with journalist Damian Trujillo and documentarian Professor Carolyn Brown at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas. Want to learn more about the Monterey Museum of Art’s newest exhibit, Chuck Close: Works on Paper? Today they show Chuck Close’s documentary which follows the contemporary artist’s career and artistic process. 2pm, 720 Via Mirada, Monterey. Free with museum admission. Get a taste of California’s central coast at Aubergine in Carmel-by-the-Sea this evening. Get ready for spring with a Fabulous Flowers and Ferns Hike with guides from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District. The 3.3 mile hike through Garzas Creek is expected to last 3 hours.
