Starting Wednesday, October 10th contemporary art and film collide in Carmel-by-the-Sea for an epic five day event. The Carmel Art & Film Festival features art in almost every medium including music, fine art, photography and, of course, film. Learn about Monterey’s heritage and unique culture during Monterey History Fest. The weekend will include historical walking tours, free admission to several adobes, a Civil War encampment the Lower Presidio Historic Park. On Saturday archaeologist Dr. Ruben Mendoza will give a tour of the interior of the Royal Presidio Chapel followed by a walking tour of archaeological sites around the church. On Sunday live one of the most important events in California's history as actors recreate the California Constitutional Convention at Hall. Saturday-Sunday, Monterey. Free event.

Step into autumn with a hike though Garland Ranch. Today guides from the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District take hikers through the Maple Canyon, Sage and Sky trails. Hikers will enjoy beautiful fall colors and sights. The 3.5 mile hike is expected to last 3-4 hours.
