Bring your friends and family and enjoy dozens of exciting international performances and unique cultural activities at the free 3rd Annual Language Capital of the World® Cultural Festival on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 20 Custom House Plaza in Downtown Monterey, CA, sponsored by The Rotary Club of Monterey and many other organizations. The Festival kicks off with a colorful procession on Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey at 10:30 am and continues all day until 6:00 p.m.

Held in the heart of historic Old Monterey, adjacent to Downtown Monterey and Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf, the 3rd Annual “Language Capital of the World® Cultural Festival” highlights Monterey's rich language, culture, and international affairs capabilities, as well as its Sister City relationships. The Festival is fun for all ages and features hundreds of performers of dances and authentic music from a variety of international cultures that represent many different languages. It offers an array of ethnic crafts, interactive exhibits from local flagship foreign language and culture institutions of higher learning, as well as language and culture mini-lessons. There is also an array of delicious international food offered by vendors from Lebanon, Japan, Korea, America (BBQ), and India.
Sit back and watch fabulous music and dance performances with gorgeous costumes from Mexico, India, Spain, China, Korea, Vietnam, Russia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, California and more. Challenge yourself and visit a dozen mini-language lesson booths to learn a little Arabic, American Sign Language, German, Greek, Korean, Mandarin, Persian-Farsi, Russian, Spanish and more.
Stop by and enjoy many unique cultural displays featuring a Kurdish cultural booth, Monterey Bay Lion Dance, Hellenic Cultural Institute, Monterey Bay Chinese Association, Om Shanti OM – an Indian Cultural Booth, Sadat Barazki Afghan Cultural Display, International Language Culture Foundation, Farsi/Calligraphy, Moravia, Alliance Francois de Monterey, Buddhist Text Translation Society, Middlebury Institute of International Studies, a cultural booth about Spain, Naval Postgraduate School, a cultural booth about Spain, Tibetan Culture and Education First.
