As always, the area is hopping this weekend. Looking for something to do? Check out this list. Friday It's the final weekend for the all-singing, all-dancing magic carpet extravaganza Disney's Aladdin Jr.. At the Golden Bough Theatre in Carmel at 7:30pm. It's also the final weekend for Waiting for Lefty, a play about the Great Depression. Curtains open at the Indoor Forest Theatre at 8pm. $15 for students and military, $10 for children and $20 for the rest of us. Saturday Palo Corona Regional Park is normally restricted to 13 visitors per day. Volunteer to help restore the park today from 9am to noon and get a sneak peek at a place most people never get to see. Head down Route 1 about a mile south of Rio Road, and turn left at the park entrance. Wear layered clothing and bring work gloves. Register online to let them know you’re coming. Learn all about that tap-tap-tapping member of the avian community, the woodpecker, at Jacks Peak County Park with "Ratta-tat-tat My Red Cap." Rumor has it they're almost as wacky as in the cartoons. Ages 13 and up, 10am to 1pm, $20. Register online through the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District website. Teens can learn resourcefulness and wilderness skills with the Negotiating the Trail hike of the Big Sur Coast from 11am to 3pm. Ages 15-19 only, $20. Register online through the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District website. The Golden State Theatre presents high culture with The Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra. The conductor speaks at 7pm; the music begins at 8. $20 for students and seniors, $25 for those of us in between. Your next-to-last chances to see Disney's Aladdin Jr. at the Golden Bough Theatre are at 2pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are still available for the Carol Welsman Quartet at the Jazz and Blues Company in Carmel. The smoky-voiced jazz chanteuse begins her performance at 7:30pm. $35. Wave Street Studios hosts an evening of burlesque and bellydance starting at 8pm. $10 in advance, $15 at the door. 18 and over only. The penultimate performance of Waiting for Lefty takes place at the Indoor Forest Theatre at 8pm. $15 for students and military, $10 for children and $20 for the rest of us. Sunday Learn all about kayaking and the mysteries of Elkhorn Slough with a kayak tour organized by the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District. Ages 8 and up, starts at 9am, $45 per person plus $10 kayak rental fee. Register online through the Monterey Peninsula Regional Parks District website. It's curtains for Disney's Aladdin Jr.; the final performance of this stage musical takes place at the Golden Bough Theatre are at 2pm. The grand finale of Waiting for Lefty's run begins at the Indoor Forest Theatre at 2:30pm. $15 for students and military, $10 for children and $20 for the rest of us. It's gourmet by the bay with the 20th annual Great Taste of Pacific Grove from 4-7pm. Hosted at The Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach, this fundraiser for the Pacific Grove Unified School District highlights the best food and wine from the area. There's also a live silent auction.
