Energy Symposium 2015

Message from the Mayor of Monterey to The Participants of the Energy Symposium 2015

Welcome to Monterey!

On behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Monterey, please accept our warmest welcome to the 2015 Energy Symposium in our beautiful & historic city of Monterey.

Visitors from all over the world have come to appreciate our historical sites, natural wonders and mild climate. Our land and Monterey Bay are the foundation upon which Monterey's story is written. Monterey's rich history includes the establishment of the Royal Presidio Chapel by Father Junipero Serra in 1770 and Colton Hall where California's first Constitution was drafted in 1849. Monterey is proud to be the birthplace of California.

We hope you will be taking advantage of time before and after your energy training seminar to see what makes Monterey so special. We also encourage you to enjoy the other wonderful sightseeing opportunities during the conference dates and truly hope some of you choose to stay longer to really enjoy Monterey in its entire splendor. There are a myriad of amenities we are fortunate to have within a short walk of downtown.

Following is a summary of options for you to explore during your free time:

  • Cannery Row
  • Downtown Historic Monterey
  • Farmers Market (Tuesday afternoons)
  • Museums and the Path of History
  • Old Fisherman's Wharf
  • Scenic Coastal Recreation Trail
  • Whale Watching, Deep Sea Fishing, Kayaking, Sailing, Surfing & SCUBA
  • Wine Tasting
  • World-Famous Monterey Bay Aquarium

Again, we appreciate the Energy Symposium 2015 having selected Monterey to host the conference, and we hope to see you return many times in the future.

With Warm Regards,

mayor of monterey esig
Clyde Roberson
