Sweeney Todd has become a bloody, worldwide success since being awarded eight Tony's, (including Best Musical), for its Broadway premiere. Stephen Sondheim’s (West Side Story, Into the Woods, A Little Night Music, Company, Follies) tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat has simultaneously shocked, awed and delighted audiences across the world.

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun! What happens then? Well, that’s the play—and Sweeney wouldn’t want us to give it away…

Popular songs from this show include: “Worst Pies in London”, “I Feel You, Johanna”, “Not While I’m Around”, “A Little Priest”, and many more.

Directed by Anthony Tringali, Sweeney Todd features local actors Justin Gaudoin (Man of La Mancha, Hamlet), Phyllis Davis (The Borrowers, Noises Off, Cabaret), Ron Genauer (ART, The Adding Machine, Scapin), Mike Baker (The Producers, Spamalot, Curtains), Ty Hawthorne (Pippin), Ashley Lyons, Jay Jones (Cry Baby, The Rocky Horror Show), Randy Pires (Cry Baby),and Alexandra Collard (Sister Act) with set design by Nicole Bryant Stephens and costume design by Joanna Winningham.

    About the Director, Anthony Tringali

Anthony Tringali is elated to return to his hometown of Monterey Bay to helm Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Tringali is celebrating his twentieth year in theater having started as a child with Kayt Green’s theater program in 1998. From then on, he would continue to work on the Peninsula, working frequently with Pac Rep, MPC, and The Forest Theater Guild. After moving to LA in 2012, Tringali took a hiatus from theater and acting, following the release of his short film Il Dilemma at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. Last year, he returned to the stage, starring as George in Moon Over Buffalo in Santa Monica, for which he was nominated for an Irene Ryan Award with the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts.
