The Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCCVB) has appointed Aileen Laracuente, who has been in the hospitality industry for the last 25 years, as Regional Sales Executive. Laracuente will represent the MCCVB in the Midwest region of the United States. She started her position in November.
Although she has spent most of her career representing Puerto Rico, Laracuente has taken a deep dive into what makes Monterey County so special. “I get to meet new people and tell them about a beautiful and diverse destination,” said Laracuente, when asked what she loves most about her job. “It is all about the experience, about being in the moment and creating amazing memories. Everything I do has an impact on the community. It is a true honor to have been entrusted to represent Monterey County.”
Laracuente spent nearly 18 years with the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau in a variety of sales roles and six years in sales with Meet Puerto Rico as well. She graduated Cum Laude with a master’s degree in hospitality administration/management from Florida International University and graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in marketing from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
Her volunteer experience includes being chairperson of community services committee and committee member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) for nine years, for three years as chairperson of Destination Reps, which is comprised of convention bureau satellite offices that are based in the Chicago area, and nearby Midwestern states, board member of Meeting Professionals International for two years and member from 2001 to the present.
Representing all of Monterey County, the MCCVB’s mission is to grow the tourism industry for the destination through marketing and sales initiatives. The destination is currently experiencing an influx of investment in property renovations and additions including the recent $60 million renovation of the Monterey Conference Center, which reopened in early 2018.
