The Monterey City Council has awarded a contract for architectural and engineering services to Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) for the renovation of the Monterey Conference Center. SOM is one of the largest and most influential architecture, interior design, engineering, and urban planning firms in the world. The project will be managed by Ausonio, Inc., a Castroville-based firm whose project team includes a highly respected consultant with experience building projects worldwide. Skidmore Owings & Merrill
The Monterey Conference Center (MCC) renovation will dramatically improve the City’s and the County’s position as a destination for meetings and conferences. Once complete, the Monterey Conference Center will be LEED-certified with advanced technology, additional and more functional space and improved options for a variety of meeting needs.Media »
Now that the project management firm and the architectural firm are in place, they will develop the timeline for renovation of the Monterey Conference Center.
When will the Monterey Conference Center undergo the renovation or set dates?
Even though the funding has been successfully voted upon the project still requires an architect firm to be hired and final plans to be drawn and reviewed prior to knowing possible date options for the project to begin and finish. We hope in summer/early fall 2014 we will have construction dates and a timeline for the project.
