Monterey State Beach begins next to Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey and runs all the way to Seaside. This popular beach is used for many outdoor activities, including surfing, kayaking, surf fishing and swimming. The sight of scuba divers emerging from the surf is common at Monterey State Beach. Beachcombers often find sea glass and other treasures along the strand, while nature lovers enjoy the tide pools at Monterey State Beach. Paragliders launch from the Seaside end of Monterey State Beach, also a popular area for kite flying. Artistic sand castle builders ply the grains on the beach into beautiful fantasias.
If you plan to fish at Monterey State Beach, make sure you're prepared. Be sure to check the California Department of Fish and Game website for information about sport fishing licenses.
Monterey State Beach is located at the Seaside exit of Highway One. Highway 218 ends at the beach.
