First Theater Fest

Celebrate the renovation of California’s First Theater with the Second Annual First Theater Fest with free entertainment, food trucks and local vendors. The site of the first paid theatrical production in California in 1848, California’s First Theater reopened in 2024 after over two decades of being shuttered. This year’s festival will include performances on the historic stage by the Monterey Peninsula Theatre Company and music by Katherine Lavin that can be enjoyed with free popcorn and cream soda. The festival’s Maker’s Market in the First Theater Garden hosts vendors North Coast Tintypes, the Casey Starks Studio, Meninas Clothing, Jilly MP Nature Illustrations and illustrator Maria Schoettler.

Across the street, Casa del Oro Garden will host several state park activities and food trucks for Silverstein’s Delicatessen and Fool Hardy Coffee.
