Lupita’s Bakery is a cherished family-owned panadería rooted in a rich baking tradition that began in San Pablo, Oaxaca, Mexico in the late 1800s. Passed down through generations, the craft was carried on by grandparents Noe and Alicia Morales in the 1960s, who became known for their signature conchas and empanadas de crema.
In 1991, their sons brought the family recipes to Seaside, California, opening San Pablo Bakery. One of the brothers, Fidel Morales, went on to establish Cypress Baking Co. in 2005 with his wife, Claudia Guadalupe Morales, earning recognition across the Monterey Bay area.
After Claudia’s passing in 2014, their children took over the bakery, learning every aspect of the business to preserve their family’s legacy. In 2018, faced with sudden eviction and pressure from investors to compromise their brand, they chose integrity over profit, relocating and renaming the business Lupita’s Bakery in honor of their mother.
Despite the challenges, they remained committed to their craft and community, rebuilding with the help of loyal staff and customers. Today, Lupita’s Bakery stands as a symbol of perseverance, heritage, and heartfelt gratitude.
