PG’s Juice ‘n Java was founded in 1993 by Frank Morris, who envisioned it as “Pacific Grove’s Living Room.” Located in one of the town’s oldest buildings—a former bank—the café quickly became a welcoming gathering place filled with great coffee, tea, chai, and baked goods. For 30 years, the space has offered comfortable sofas and tables where locals and visitors alike come to study, hold meetings, host parties, play music, and enjoy the friendly, laid-back “PG vibe.”
In 2023, longtime regular and Pacific Grove resident Scott Soifer took ownership of the café. A frequent performer at the Friday Open Mics, Scott’s connection to the space began as a customer and musician before an offhand conversation with Frank led to an unexpected opportunity to carry on its legacy. With no prior café experience, he approaches the role with passion, dedication, and a commitment to community—guided, as he says, by “Love, Karma, and Hustle.”
Now known as The PG Meetinghouse, the café continues to serve as a cornerstone of the community. Upholding the motto “For PG, By PG,” The PG Meetinghouse remains dedicated to its customers, local spirit, and long-standing sense of connection. Plans include expanding evening hours for live music, trivia, and game nights, as well as offering the space for private events. True to its roots, The PG Meetinghouse remains committed to quality and continues sourcing its food and beverages from the best local providers.
