Monterey Car Week is one of the busiest times of the year, so a little planning goes a long way. Help protect Monterey County's scenic beauty and make your visit more enjoyable by traveling responsibly and respecting the communities that host these world-renowned events.
- Gear up before you go. Expect heavy traffic, limited parking and longer travel times. Leave early, plan your route and know where you’re parking before you arrive. Use shuttles, rideshare or carpool whenever possible and text CARWEEK to 65513 for live updates.
- Keep the racing on the track. Street racing, burnouts, excessive revving, speeding, aggressive driving, illegal exhaust modifications and driving under the influence are not welcome here. Law enforcement will be actively enforcing traffic laws throughout Car Week. Save the competition for official events.
- Shift into neighbor mode. Our communities are not part of the course. Park only in designated areas, obey posted signs and keep vehicle noise down. Never block driveways, emergency access, intersections or traffic lanes.
- Keep Car Week at the official events. Skip unauthorized pop-up gatherings, roadside meetups and unsafe stops for photos or videos. If it blocks traffic, creates a hazard or disrupts a neighborhood, don’t do it. There are plenty of official Car Week events built for exactly that experience.
- Take the Right Path off the road, too. Stay on designated roads, trails and public access areas. Pack out everything you bring in, dispose of waste properly and respect our beaches, overlooks, neighborhoods and open spaces. Don’t leave trash, tire marks or damage behind.
- Don’t bring unwanted passengers. Invasive pests can hitch a ride on vehicles, tires, trailers, outdoor gear, firewood and plants. Before you travel, inspect and clean your vehicle and equipment, remove mud, seeds and debris, and never transport firewood or plants that could spread invasive species. The bugs don’t need a Car Week invite.
Come for the cars. Respect the community. Shift into the Right Gear. 🏁
