July 4th Living History Day at Monterey State Historic Park

Celebrate the July 4th holiday with a visit to Monterey State Historic Park’s Memory Garden for family-friendly crafts and activities. The fun begins after the conclusion of the City of Monterey’s July 4th parade.

Experience the holiday by engaging in activities that took place in Monterey during the 1800s. Dressed in period attire, the State Park’s staff and volunteers will assist visitors with numerous fun activities. Try your hand at rope making, tortilla cooking, leather stamping, mapmaking, games, embroidery, watercolor postcards and candle making. Staff will also lead demonstrations on Adobe brick-making and branding.

This year, there will be a special guest appearance from The Lorax! Before entering the Memory Garden, be sure to stop by the front of the Pacific House and get a selfie with the iconic Dr. Seuss character.
