Kiddie Kapers Parade

Now in its 94th year, the Kiddie Kapers Parade is a beloved event where children can dress up and participate—no pre-registration is required. It’s free for both participants and spectators, welcoming a variety of entries, from bikes and scooters (helmets are required) to community floats and themed costumes. This year’s whimsical theme, “Once Upon a Rodeo,” encourages young participants to bring fairy tales to life with a Western twist.

The 2025 Grand Marshal is Jaizel Mendoza, the California Rodeo Association’s 2024 Golden Circle of Champions delegate. Jaizel is a courageous 7-year-old from Salinas who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in April 2022 and is currently living with an inoperable chest tumor. Despite her health challenges, Jaizel shines with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She loves all animals, especially horses, and cherishes time spent with her cousins. Her bravery and spirit are an inspiration, and we are honored to recognize her in this special role.
