OTHELLO by William Shakespeare

Othello, a renowned Black general, has defied the odds to rise in both rank and respect. But beneath his triumphs simmers a world of prejudice—waiting to undo him. When Iago, a trusted friend and fellow soldier, taps into these deep-seated racial tensions, he crafts a scheme fueled by jealousy and deceit, drawing Othello into a tragic spiral of suspicion, betrayal and self-doubt.

Directed by Lisa Gaye Dixon (Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill), this striking Regency-era production from NCTC brings Shakespeare’s powerful tragedy to life under the stars at Carmel’s iconic Outdoor Forest Theater. Jonathan Bangs (Finding Chase) stars as Othello, with NCTC Artistic Director J. Matthew Gordon as the calculating Iago.
