Carmel Art Walk takes place on the second Saturday of every month from 4 to 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Visitors are invited to tour artist-owned galleries, meet the creators, and experience the living legacy of Carmel-by-the-Seas artist colony. Blue lanterns mark each participating gallery, guiding guests through an inspiring evening of art and community.
At the turn of the last century, Carmel was known as a haven for artists. A 1910 report revealed that more than 60% of homes were owned by those pursuing a life in the arts. Drawn by the towns natural beauty, creative spirit, and quiet solitude, these early pioneers established Carmels Bohemian art colony. They welcomed the public into their modest studios, offering a glimpse into the artistic process.
Today, Carmel Art Walk carries that tradition forward, celebrating the towns vibrant arts culture and supporting the local artists who keep the heart of Carmel beating strong.
