The Monterey Peninsula Ballet Theatre (MPBT) returns for its production of The Nutcracker, led by Monterey’s Artistic Director Tia Brown Rosenblum. Rosenblum collaborated with talented local choreographers and former students to give young dancers a professional experience. This year, professional dancers Samuel Jones and Jameson Keating join MPBT as Cavalier, Nutcracker, Prince, and Arabian lead, partnering local stars Paige McDonald (Sugar Plum Fairy), Tes Laflan (Arabian Lead), Brooke Benson (Clara), and Emory Bates (Mouse Queen).

With 120 dancers, dedicated volunteers, and countless supporters, MPBT brings Tchaikovsky’s enchanting story to life. Audiences will follow Clara as she celebrates Christmas with her mischievous brother and magical Uncle Drosselmeyer, venturing into a fantastical world of twirling sugar plums, Mother Ginger’s magical cookies, pirouetting flowers, battling soldiers, and Nutcracker heroics. Stunning scenery, glittering props, and the holiday magic of Sunset Center promise an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
