Big Sur International Marathon

Non profit organization executes annual Big Sur International Marathon each April, Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay each November, annual Mud Run and year-round JUST RUN youth fitness program.  Marathon is ranked as one of the country's top three and "Best Destination Marathon" in North America; travels from Big Sur to Carmel on scenic Hwy 1 and includes shorter distances of 21, 10.6, 9 miles plus a 5K, kid's race and two-day Health & Fitness Expo.  November Half Marathon takes place in Monterey and Pacific Grove on a fast, scenic course along the Monterey Bay; also includes two-day Expo and 3K and 5K races.  Mud Run, typically held in March on the CSUMB campus, includes four mud pits and obstacles along a 5-6 mile road and dirt trail.  JUST RUN youth fitness program combats childhood obesity by providing schools with a free program that offers incentives and goals for students age 5-12.  Big Sur Marathon has been voted top 'non profit' and 'best event' in Monterey County.
